The CHS Ultimate team, Bayou Hazard, presented their National Championship trophy to the school on Tuesday, June 15. The Bears defeated nationally ranked No. 2 Lakeside of Seattle to take home the national title in Rockford, Illinois. This is the first team in Catholic High history to win a national title.
“At the beginning of the year, this group of guys said that they wanted to compete for the national title,” said ultimate coach Michael Aguilar. “The other coaches and I laid out a schedule for them that meant coming to school at 6 a.m., that meant additional practice time and more travel, and they jumped through everything we put in front of them. This championship was possible because they worked for it.”
Bayou Hazard was led by team captains Dylan Reviere and Matt Freeburgh. The ultimate coaching staff includes Michael Aguilar, Thomas Echols and Taylor Messenger.
