CHS Wrestlers Give Strong Showing
CHS senior Jacob Fereday, captured the 170 pound title at the Trey Culotta Invitational last weekend at Brother Martin. Fereday fended off all competitors in one of the hallmark holiday meets in the South to run his record to 22-1 on the season. Fereday is one of the top wrestlers in any division in the state.
Luke Romano finished fifth in the 126 pound division and will be one of the favorites in his weight class at the city championship and state meet down the road.
The Bears finished 11th in the team standings with 300 points. More than 25 programs were represented at the meet hosted by Brother Martin, with teams shipping in from Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The grapplers take their act to Ascension Parish on January 3rd, in the St. Amant dual meet. The Bears will travel to Hoover, Alabama, to compete in the Hoover High Invitational, one of the prep wrestling’s showcases in the south.
“We are working to get better everyday at practice and every meet. The team saw excellent competition at the Culotta meet, and will see much of the same when we travel to Hoover in over a week. St. Amant will give us a tough test in a preview of the competition we will see next month at the city championships,” noted CHS coach Tommy Prochaska.
