CHS Wrestlers Head To Louisiana Classic For A Weekend Of Competition
The CHS wrestling team takes part in the Louisiana Classic, one of the premier tournaments in the state of Louisiana, this weekend, Jan. 13 and 14, at Baton Rouge Community College. Bears’ head coach Tommy Prochaska is excited to head the tourney which will see 40 plus teams competing this weekend. “The Louisiana Classic is one of the highlights on the wrestling schedule for all high school programs in our state. We enjoy playing the role as host of this prestigious meet and seeing athletes from around Louisana compete at a great facility on the campus of BRCC. The tournament serves as a prelude to the Ken Cole next week at Comeaux in Lafayette and City in two weeks,” said Prochaska.
The Bears are 12-5 in dual meets this year and are anxious to return to the mat after last week’s annual trip to the Hoover High Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, was cancelled due to weather concerns.
Top wrestlers for the Bears in the Louisiana Classic are Cameron Carpenter, Jacob Fereday and James DeLee.
The competition kicks off at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, with the semifinals beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 and the finals at 3 p.m.
