CHS Wrestlers Partner With Rebuilding Together To Build Wheelchair Ramps
Saturday, July 29, 25 CHS wrestlers, coaches and parents participated in a team service project in North Baton Rouge. This annual event provides an opportunity for young men to learn new skills and work together as a different kind of team for a day. The team divided into work crews to build two wheelchair ramps on the same street. The project was made possible by Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge, who generously provided all materials for the construction of both wheelchair ramps.
Rebuilding Together is a national U.S. non-profit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods by providing free home repairs and modifications to low-income homeowners. The Baton Rouge affiliate formed in 2003 and is one of over 200 nationwide. Home repair services are aimed at allowing elderly or disabled low-income homeowners to stay in their homes and Òage in place.Ó
It was a beautiful picture of men mentoring the students, teaching them practical skills, and showing them what it means to use our blessings to bless others. The homeowners were extremely grateful for this group giving one day to make a difference in their everyday lives.
