Class of 1961 Honored at 50-Year Reunion
Catholic High School honored its 50-year graduates, the class of 1961, at a reunion on campus Saturday, May 16, 2011.
Also honored were the 60-, 65-, 70- and 75-year graduates from the classes of 1951, 1946, 1941 and 1936. The event was sponsored by the CHS Alumni Association.
The evening began with Mass at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Reverend Paul A. McDuffie.
Participating in the Mass were 1961 class members Kraemer Diel, Nicholas Cicero, Edward Sanchez, Raymond Drago, Marion Romano, Dale Fleniken, John Culmone, Charles Tramonte and Thomas Vince. Also participating in the Mass were Brother Eldon Crifasi, SC, Davis Hotard and Denise Williston.
Following the Mass, honorees gathered in the Catholic High Centennial Courtyard and the Health & Physical Education Center Plaza for a social.
The school gymnasium was the setting for a steak dinner prepared by the CHS Mení´s Club and organized by Pete Hymel, Junior Politz and Michael Lamana. Acting as waiters for the evening were members of the CHS Key Club, under the direction of Scott Losavio and Drew Losavio. Gene Tullier, CHS president, served as master of ceremonies and Brother Eldon, director of alumni relations, emeritus, led the blessing before dinner. Glen Randow, CHS director of alumni relations, and Eddie Samson, president of the CHS alumni board of directors, welcomed the graduates and their guests. Marion Romano and Russell Theard provided reminiscences for the 50-year graduates and Samson, recognized the class honorees.
Commemorative diplomas were presented to the 50-year graduates, and engraved plaques were given to the members of the 60-, 65-, 70- and 75-year reunion classes.
David Broussard was the CHS Alumni Board of Directors 50-Year Reunion committee chairman. Glen Randow, director of alumni relations, Barbara Camp, alumni events coordinator and members of the alumni association board of directors organized the event.
