Clyde Edwards-Helaire ’17 Selected By The Kansas City Chiefs In 2020 NFL Draft

Congratulations to CHS alumnus and former LSU Tiger Clyde Edwards-Helaire ’17, for being selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Clyde is the 18th CHS alumnus to play in the NFL.

Edwards-Helaire was born and raised in Baton Rouge and attended Catholic High School. He was the first freshman under former head coach Dale Winer, to play on the varsity football team. As a senior, Edwards-Helaire rushed 58 times for 496 yards and 10 touchdowns. Clyde was named the MVP of the 5A State Championship game, after catching eight passes for 161 yards and rushing for 88 yards as well as a touchdown in the Bears 31-28 win over Archbishop Rummel High School. After graduation, he attended Louisiana State University.

In his junior season at LSU, Clyde was named First Team All-SEC and was a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award as the most versatile player in college football. He also led the SEC in rushing TDs (16) and finished number two in the league in rushing yards. Clyde was named LSU’s MVP at the team’s award banquet.
