Cross Country Team To Compete in Battlefield Invitational
The Big Orange Wave Cross Country team may not have been noticed competing for a team title at a course near you last Saturday. But, that doesn’t mean that coach Pete Boudreaux’s charges were sleeping in or taking the morning off.
The Wave competed in a Kleinert Avenue Time Trial on Saturday with 16 runners setting personal bests for three miles and 12 runners setting personal bests for two miles.
Senior Jeffrey Kelley dashed the three mile race in 15:21, the third fastest time on Kleinert Avenue in history. Fellow senior David Toups finished second in 15:49. Caleb Dugas (16:15), Michael Hubbell (16:26), and Thomas Laville (16:34) rounded out the top five for the three mile trial.
Freshman Brian Miller paced the two mile competitors in a time of 11:11. Jack Maddox (11:41), Jack Lieux (11:57), Ben Weller (11:59) and Eli Barbin (12:12) rounded out the top five for the two mile run. Sam Harkrider posted the top time for 8th graders with a 13:36 clocking.
The cross country team will compete in the Battlefield Invitational in Port Hudson this Saturday. The first race of the meet will go off at 8 p.m.
