Drake Brignac Selected as Louisiana Delegate for U.S. Senate Youth Program
CHS senior Drake Brignac was named as one of two student delegates to represent Louisiana at the 2017-2018 United States Senate Youth Program, sponsored by the William R. Hearst Foundation. Brignac will join Senator Bill Cassidy and Senator John Kennedy in the nation’s capital during the 56th annual USSYP Washington Week, to be held March 3 – 10, 2018. Each year, this extremely competitive merit-based program brings 104 of the most outstanding high school students to Washington, D.C. for an intensive week-long study of the federal government and the people who lead it. The overall mission of the program is to help instill within each class of USSYP student delegates a more profound knowledge of the American political process and a lifelong commitment to public service.
Brignac is an active representative on the CHS Student Council. He is also the president of the Youth and Government club, the Youth Governor of the Louisiana YMCA Youth Legislature, and State vice president of l’Association Louisianaise des Club Francais des Ecoles Secondaires, the state French convention.
