Eighth Annual Taste Fair Draws Over 700 People
The Eighth Annual Catholic High School Taste Fair was held on Sunday, November 11, 2007, in the Catholic High School Gymnasium.
Restaurants, caterers and distributors in and around the Baton Rouge area came to showcase samples of their finest food. Over 700 people attended the event.
Participating in this year’s Taste Fair were The Ambrosia Bakery; Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Co.; Baton Rouge Beer Agency/Miller Lite; Bennigan’s Grill and Tavern; Bistro Byronz; The Bluffs Country Club & Resort; Caf_ Americain Restaurant and Catering; Calandro’s Supermarket; Carrabba’s; Community Coffee Company, L.L.C.; D’Agostino’s Restaurant; DiGiulio Brothers; Dillon’s Catering; Drusilla Seafood Restaurant and Drusilla Place Catering; Galatoire’s; Heads & Tails; Juban’s Restaurant and Catering; The Little Village; Louisiana Lagniappe; Mansurs on the Boulevard; Monjunis; On the Half Shell; Parrain’s Seafood Restaurant; Paul Wong’s Chinese and Sushi; Roberto’s; The Roux House; Serop’s Caf_ / Louisiana Pizza Kitchen; Unique Cuisine; Voo Doo BBQ; WalkOn’s Bistreaux and Bar and Zippy’s.
Prize winners for the evening were Kathy Catanzaro, Louisiana Potpourri Gift Basket; Susan Koger; Maxwell’s Market Wine and Steak Dinner gift certificate; Ivan Duke, Chocollage Gifts and Chocolates Gift Basket; Karen LeBlanc, Whole Foods Gift Basket; Connie Young,Community Coffee Gift Basket; Darryl Whitty, Community Coffee Gift Basket; John Hamm, Hi Neighbor Gift Basket; Scott Schneidewind, Commissioner Bob Odom, Department of Agriculture Gift Basket; Niya Guidry, $250 Door Prize; Dr. Kent Rhodes, $150 Door Prize; Debbie Bennett, $100 Door Prize.
Proceeds from the event will benefit alumni activities on campus as well as to help fund the Alumni Association Scholarship.
The chairman of this year’s event is Dr. Jimmy Hannie. Members of the planning committee include Ken Litz, Sam Losavio, Patrick Hannie, Monty Buckles, Norman Nolan, Jimmy Zito, Ed Sutton and Mike Acaldo. Glen Randow, director of the CHS office of alumni relations and Katherine Ellis, alumni events coordinator of the CHS office of alumni relations also assisted in organizing the event.
