Football Bears End Spring Practice with Intrasquad Scrimmage

Football season is around the corner, just three months away from the season opener against crosstown rival and defending Division II state champion, Parkview Baptist. Long before the opening kickoff in September, there are off-season workouts, summer lifting, 7 on 7 games, drillwork and numerous camps that will be attended in preparation for the 2016 season.

The Bears ended their spring practice with an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday morning, May 21 on the practice field.  Both sides of the ball showed improvement and no major injuries were reported by head coach Dale Weiner.

With the Bears coming off its first ever state championship in football, there is plenty of anticipation for the upcoming season.  The Bears will take on defending state champions in the first two weeks of the season in Parkview and Zachary.  Plus, prep sports website, MaxPreps, released its high school football pre-season Top 50 and the Bears garnered a #46 ranking.  Click here to read more from MaxPreps on the Bears and how they stack up against teams from around the country.
