Freshman Lance Gaupp Takes Second in Young Bassists Solo Competition

CHS freshman Lance Gaupp was awarded 2nd place out of 31 participants for his performance of Old Joe Clark, a fiddle tune arranged by Diana Gannett, in the Young Bassists Solo Competition at the 2016 Louisiana Bass Fest-LSU on Saturday, March 5, 2016. 

This event is sponsored by the LSU College of Music and Dramatic Arts School of Music in collaboration with Manship Guest Artist Fund and coordinated by Artistic Director, Professor Yung-Chiao Wei, Double -Bass at LSU.  The competition was judged by John Madere, Principal Bassist of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Robert Nash, Prinicpal Bassist of the Rapides Symphony and Josue’ Ramirez, Master Bassist and instructor at Zachary High School. Gaupp is a student of bassist Bobby Kling, CHS Class of 2009.
