Golf Team Takes Home Regional Championship
The CHS golf team shot 299 to capture the Division I, Region II Championship on Tuesday at Carter Plantation in Springfield. The Bears defeated seven Division I teams from the greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans area regions. The 299 score advanced the Bears to the Division I state championship along with Fontainebleau 315, Zachary 319 and Jesuit 320. The Division I state championship will be held at The Farm D’Allie course in Carencro on May 2-3 at 1 pm each day.
Stewart Perilloux was the low scoring Bear, shooting a two under par 70. Carson Caruso hovered around par all day, shooting a one over 73. D.J. Johnson shot 75, Connor Wilson carded a 81, and Max Trapp checked in with a 84.
“I am proud of our guys for shooting its second sub-300 score in seven days,” said head golf coach Pat Dulaney. “Playing eighteen holes presents many challenges and staying mentally tough is key. We look forward to thirty-six holes of golf next week and make a run at a state championship.”
