Golfers Open Season With Second Place Win In Tournament
The Bears played in their first major golf tournament this weekend at the Bayou Rapides Invitational in Alexandria. Holy Savior Menard and Alexandria Senior High co-hosted the tournament that consisted of twelve teams and approximately one hundred golfers.
The Bears shot 316 on Saturday at Links on the Bayou and earned a fifth place standing after day one. On Sunday, the Bears rallied and shot a 306 at Oak Wing for a two day total of 622, good enough for tournament runners-up honors. C.E. Byrd of Shreveport was the overall winner.
CHS junior Carson Caruso was the top overall medallist at Bayou Rapides. Caruso shot 73-69 for a total of 142 to finish first among all golfers. The Bears return to Metro League action for the next two weeks before returning to weekend tourney action at the end of March.
