Hillar Moore To Play Baseball at Southern University
Catholic high Senior Hillar Moore IV has signed to play baseball at Southern University.
Moore, a pitcher and first baseman, is a varsity player for the Bears and was on the 2008 CHS team that played in the state semifinals.
‘I wanted to stay in Baton Rouge, and Southern has a strong baseball program,’ commented Moore.
CHS Head Baseball coach Kyle Achord congratulated Moore on the opportunity to continue his baseball career.
‘I’m excited for Hillar and his family that he will have the opportunity to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level,’ added Achord.
Athletics has been a part of the Moore family for three generations.
Hillar Moore, Jr played high school baseball in New Orleans in1942 and 1943 before he entered the service in World War II. Hillar Moore III wrestled at Brother Martin in New Orleans and continued his athletic career by wrestling and playing rugby at LSU.
Catholic High has 10 graduates currently playing baseball at the collegiate level.
