Indoor Track Team Captures State Title

The Catholic High Track Team captured the 5A Class Indoor State Championship for the fifth straight time at LSUí´s Bernie Moore Field House February 19. 2011.

The Bears won three individual titles. Ben Ross was first in the 1600 meters; Matthew Rhorer was first in the 800 meters and Cole Stafford was first in the 3200 meters. 

Two relay teams placed first: the 4×800 team of Cullen Hodges, Brennan McLean , Matthew Rhorer, and Ben Ross; and the 4×400 team of D.J. Woodard, Hil Stephens, Chris Handy, and Jessie Cole. 

Additional winners included Jesses Cole, third in the 400 meter run; St Cyr, second in the 3200 meter run; and Grayson McManus, D.J. Woodward, Jessie Cole and Ken Ward third in the 4×200 meter relay. 

Also scoring for the Bears were Brian Primeaux, fifth in the 800 meter run; Sam Abboud, fourth in the triple jump;  Anthony Van Duzze, sixth in the shot put; Ken Ward, fourth in the long jump and  Miles Watts,  fifth in the 55 hurdles. 

The Bears also hold the record for the five highest scores recorded in state indoor championships.
