Jacob Fereday Named Outstanding Wrestler at Brusly Meet
The 2-0 Catholic High wrestling team will return to the mat in dual meet action tonight at home in the Bear Cave. The opening match begins at 6 p.m. against 5A perennial wrestling power Comeaux High of Lafayette.
The Bears hope to use tonight’s dual event as a momentum springboard into their weekend meet in Houston at Cypress Ridge.
Over the weekend, the 8th and 9th grade teams traveled to Brother Martin in New Orleans, while the varsity split its squad and competed at Central and Brusly. Hunter Goodson was the 113 pound winner at Central on Saturday. Teammates Canon Hunt (145) and Jacob Fereday (170) were individual winners across town at Brusly. Jacob Fereday was named Outstanding Wrestler at Brusly.
The junior high team represented itself well on Saturday at Brother Martin. Eight Bears finished in the top three in their respective weight classes with Noah Riche’ and McVay Stockwell winning individual titles.
Tonight’s wrestling match is the first of three athletic events on the schedule to end the school week. Coach Prochaska looks forward to seeing Bear Nation come out tonight to the CHS gym and carry that energy over to the home hoops game on Thursday, followed by playoff football action on Friday at Olympia.
