Lacrosse Bears Take Third in Battle by the Beach Tournament

This past weekend all three teams fought through some miserably cold and dreary Gulfport, Mississippi weather on Saturday before the sun made a welcome appearance for Sundayí´s action.

The Varsity Bears took 3rd place on the weekend. Three wins on Saturday over St. Thomas More, Lafayette and Northshore left only St. Paulí´s between them and the Championship game against Jesuit. Although they played well, it ultimately was not meant to be. The scoring for the weekend was led by Grant Langley with 5 goals; supported by multi-goal performances from Hayden Case, Adrian Toranto, John Kellner, Jonathan Miller and Andrew Perodin. An equally important part of the weekendí´s success was the impressive defensive performance by goalie Kyle Robichaux, Pat Colclough, Mattson Hood and Conrad Adkins.

After starting Saturday with an impressive 7-1 win over Dutchtown, the JV Bears fought through some very tough loses to out-of-state competition from a very physical Gulfbreeze, Florida  team and a varsity squad from Huntsville, Alabama. Sunday saw them lose a close one on a late game score by Rummel. Their scoring was led by Caleb Boesch and Taylor Boyle with 3 goals each and multi-goal efforts by Stephen Colomb, Brent Talamo, Garret Harvey and Dillon Heflin, complimented by a strong defensive stance from Tyler Chauncy, Gabe Scioneaux, Joe Poret and Austen Theriot and goalie Kirkland Roberts.

Our freshman had a weekend of very exciting and close games. They finished Saturday with a 2 goal loss to St. Thomas More and a tough 1 goal loss to Brother Martin. They came in Sunday and battled a very talented St. Paulí´s team to a tie with led to a rematch with Brother Martin. Unfortunately, they again fell a single goal short in a game that was close to the very end. The freshman scoring for the weekend was led by 4 goals from Andrew Young and 2 goals from Justin David. Defensively the games were held close led by the efforts of Ben Grandy, Jacob Gugliemo and Austin Harris

The Bears will play twice this weekend. They travel to Madisonville to face the Northshore club on Saturday. Then on Sunday they host St. Paulí´s on our home turf. Sundayí´s games will begin at 10 a.m. Come out and enjoy the action.
