Lacrosse Opens Season In Sugar Bowl Classic
The CHS lacrosse squad opened season play in the Sugar Bowl Classic in Mandeville this past weekend. The varsity, junior varsity and junior varsity B teams all participated in one of the south’s top season kickoff events.
The varsity finished pool play with a 1-1-1 record before dropping their first game of bracket play. Both the junior varsity and junior varsity B teams advanced to the finals of their brackets before losing in the championship games.
Second year coach George Hopkins, was optimistic after the first weekend of play. “All three teams were able to log quality minutes on the field and gain valuable experience,” noted Hopkins. “The strong level of competition was exactly what our program needed to start the season. I expect our team to make big strides down the road and compete late in the season.”
The Bears’ home opener is set for Friday, February 2, at home versus Dutchtown. The opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
