Lacrosse Sends Seniors Out In Style
In front of a large crowd of students, family and friends, the Catholic lacrosse team recognized ití´s eight seniors at halftime of their game against Holy Cross. The Bears were firing on all cylinders as they posted a 20-0 win, improving their record to 8-8.
An impressive offensive show was put on by Evan Fontenot, with eight goals and three assists for eleven points, and Christopher Miller, with four goals and six assists for ten points. Holy Cross could not contain the two juniors, as they paired up into a two man team that worked to perfection in the first half.
On the defensive side, this was the first shutout of the year for the Bears. Because of the Bears’ stout defense, the Tigers got off just six shots, giving keeper Beau Abadie six saves. Additionally, Michael Browning had a ground ball and two takeaways, Taylor Fontenot had a ground ball and two takeaways and attack Christopher Miller had a ground ball and two takeaways to go with his offensive output.
The Bears return to the field on Friday, March 18, as they travel to Lafayette to take on Central District rival St. Thomas More. The Friday match has district championship implications. The game will be played at Clark Field and starts at 8 p.m. The lacrosse team and coaches are calling on the Bear Nation to lend its support as the Bears continue their drive for the district championship.
