Lacrosse Team Dominates Over Dutchtown 9-1 in Fall Scrimmage

The CHS Lacrosse team went down to Gonzales to compete against Dutchtown in an annual Fall Ball Scrimmage on Sunday, November 15. Under a bright blue sky, the Bears were able to put together some good team work and never trailed in the game.

Matthew Berdon scored in the 1st quarter, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead. Grant Wilkinson followed with another score for the Bears, which is where the 1st quarter closed with the Bears leading 2-0.

The Bears traded goals with Dutchtown in the 2nd quarter, with Caleb Barber getting the goal for Catholic High. The Bears went into halftime leading 3-1.

In the 3rd quarter, Berdon Scored his second goal of the game, giving the Bears a 4-1 lead. That score was followed by a score from Josh Brooks, giving the Bears a 5-1 lead, which is where the score remained as the quarter came to an end.

In the 4th quarter, the Bears summer and fall conditioning paid off, as the Bears went on a 4-0 scoring run. Clayton Rivers started it off, giving the Bears a 6-1 lead. Next up, Taylor Fontenot scored with a burn to the top left corner, giving Catholic a 7-1 lead. Behind him, Evan Fontenot scored with a drive across the crease, giving the Bears an 8-1 lead. Finally, Wilkinson scored his second goal, to end the game with the final score of 9-1.

Before the game, Coach Tyler Gray announced the Team Captains for the 2015-2016 Lacrosse season which are Nick Carville, Blaine Edmonson, Matthew (Moose) Miller and Beau Abide.

The Bears return to the field on Saturday, November 21, as they host the All-State Sugar Bowl Fall Lacrosse Classic at Hartley Vey Park, which will also close out their Fall Ball season.
