Lacrosse Teams Experience Up and Down Weekend

Saturday action had all three teams playing away games north of Lake Pontchartrain. The Varsity and JV faced off against Northshore in Madisonville and the Freshmen against St. Paulí´s in Covington. On Sunday all three teams were back on their home turf hosting the very strong St. Paulí´s teams.

The Varsity beat Northshore 8-5 with a 3 goal, 1 assist performance by Jonathan Miller and two goals from Andrew Perodin. On Sunday they found themselves on the other side of the coin losing to St Paulí´s 3-7. All three of the Bearsí´ goals on Sunday were scored by Hayden Case.

The JV had a similar weekend. They defeated Northshore by a score of 8-3 on an amazing 4 goal, 2 assist display by Taylor Boyle. Additionally, that victory was assured by Jason Guidroz who stepped between the pipes for the very first time after only three days of practice to replace the two regular goalies that were unavailable. In Sundayí´s contest against St. Paulí´s, the Bears scored two late goals to tie the game at 5-5 and send it into overtime. The score remained tied through the first overtime period until St Paulí´s scored in the second overtime period to hand the Bears a very hard fought loss.

The Freshmen had a tough weekend in their home and home series with St. Paulí´s. After losing 5-4 on Saturday in Covington they suffered the same unfortunate 5-4 fate on Sunday in Baton Rouge despite a multi-goal performance by Drew Kimbrell.

This weekend the Bears will travel to Brother Martin on Saturday, March 17 then return to host the Rummel Raiders at CHS. Come out and support your Bears.
