Lacrosse Teams Travel to New Orleans for Weekend Competition
The Varsity started the weekend by not being able to find their groove against a very skilled Brother Martin squad. They suffered a 10-5 loss with scoring contributions from five different players. They did, however, rebound at home against Rummel. Hayden Case scored four goals and Andrew Perodin scored three in an 8-7 victory that went down to the wire. Three of the eight goals were scored with assists by Jonathon Miller.
The JV squad had dominating performances both days of the weekend. They defeated Brother Martin 8-4 on multi-goal performances by Dillon Heflin and Taylor Boyle. An additional (and rare) goal was scored by the defense as Joe Poret put one in unassisted. Their Sunday performance was even more dominating as they easily handled the visiting Rummel Raiders with an 11-4 victory. Four different Bears had multi-goal performances led by Taylor Boyle with four. Ryan Sandifer and Curtis Westmoland each had two assists.
For our freshmen, close games are becoming their trademark. Saturday they capped a defensive struggle with a 4-3 victory over Brother Martin with Hunter Landry scoring two of the four. Sunday they found the shoe on the other foot as they lost a high scoring affair to St. Thomas More by a score of 10-9. Justin David scored four goals, while Nick Rabalais scored another three. Four of the nine goals came from assists by Andrew Young.
This will be a busy week for the Bears as they head to Dutchtown Tuesday night, March 20, for a rare mid-week game. Then they are home Saturday, March 24, hosting St. Paulí´s and Kipp Renaissance before spending Sunday on the road against the Lafayette Lions.
