Lacrosse Teams Win Three Out of Four in Sugarbowl Classic

The Varsity Bears faced off against Loyola of Shreveport in the Sugarbowl Classic at Pan Am Stadium in New Orleans on Saturday, February 25. Although they outscored their opponent 3-1 in the second half on goals by Andrew Perrodin (2) and John Kellner, it wasní´t enough to overcome their 4-0 deficit at the half.

On Sunday, back on our home turf, all three teams took the field. The day started with an exciting game for the Freshman Bears against Jesuit. After a scoreless first quarter, each team scored a goal in each of the last three quarters ending regulation in a 3-3 tie. Then early in the overtime period, the Bears took the victory on Justin Davidí´s second goal of the day.

They were followed by the Varsity Bears who bounced back from Saturdayí´s defeat with a resounding 11-1 victory over Mandeville. The Bears displayed a diverse attack with eight different players scoring goals, led by Hayden Case, Andrew Perrodin and Ryan McGinty with two goals each.

The Sunday sweep was completed by the JV squad who defeated Mandeville by an 11-3 margin. Just like with the Varsityí´s varied attack, seven different players scores led by the three goal performance of Taylor Boyle.

March 3 – 4 all three teams will be headed to Gulfport, Mississippi to compete in the annual Battle by the Beach tournament. With teams coming in from a four state area, this should be an exciting weekend.
