Matthew Burmaster Named Defensive Coordinator for CHS Football Team

Catholic High School has named Matthew Burmaster as Defensive Coordinator for the CHS football team.  Burmaster will also serve as a health & physical education teacher.

Burmaster has served as Defensive Assistant, Cornerbacks Coach and Defensive Coordinator for Ponchatoula High School, Defensive Coordinator for Covington High School and Defensive Backs Coach for West Jefferson High School.  During his coaching tenure, he has coached teams to 13 5A playoff appearances.

“We are excited to have Matt join the Catholic High football program and community.  He brings great defense expertise and experience. I believe he will fit in well at Catholic High School,íñ commented CHS Head Football Coach Dale Weiner.

“I am extremely honored and proud to be the new Defensive Coordinator at Catholic High School. I would like to thank Coach Weiner, Coach Kelly, Mrs. Harvey and the entire Catholic High School administration for affording me this opportunity. I would not be where I am today without the overwhelming support of my family, friends, and coaches who have played such an integral part of my life.  I look forward to being able to carry on the mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart with the students of Catholic High, on and off the field,íñ commented Burmaster.

A graduate of Jesuit High School, Burmaster has a Bachelor of Science in secondary English education from Our Lady of Holy Cross College and is currently pursuing a masterí´s degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University.
