Michael Acaldo ’85 Inducted into CHS Hall of Fame

Michael Acaldo was inducted into the Catholic High School Hall of Fame December 3 at the 25th Annual Founders Banquet at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. 

Acaldo, a 1985 graduate of Catholic High School, is currently serving as President and CEO of St. Vincent de Paul in Baton Rouge.  He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and MBA from Louisiana State University. 

During his 20 years at St. Vincent de Paul, Acaldo has witnessed the Society grow from an annual budget of approximately $200,000 to more than $8 million.  With this expanded budget, Michael has been able to assist St. Vincent de Paul open the first Bishop Ott Shelter for Homeless Men, a community pharmacy for the needy, the Bishop Ott Day Center that serves over 1,500 homeless men, women and children annually, establish the Uniforms for Kids effort, thrifts stores, dental clinics and dining facility, to name a few.

Dr. Fred J. Ruiz Sr. and the late Dr. Claude J. Patin were also honored as CHS Perpetual Founders for their generous donation of $100,000 or more to Catholic High School during their lifetime. 

Hal Dupuy served as the master of ceremonies of the 25th Annual Founders Banquet and Gene Tullier, CHS president, inducted Michael Acaldo in the Hall of Fame. 

Hal Dupuy, director of advancement, recognized the Alumni Association and Past Mothersí´ Club President Leslie Falgoust and Past Mení´s Club President Marvin Borgmeyer for their contributions to CHS in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.  Dupuy also acknowledged Russell and Valerie Primeaux, 2008-2009 Parents Annual Appeal chaircouple, for their leadership with the annual appeal.  Additionally, members of the Catholic High School Board of Directors in attendance presented plaques to the new CHS Founders.  Board members presenting were Carol Bonnecaze, Blane Clark, Brother Barry Landry, SC, Doug Nelson, Marlene Sheely, Brother Chris Sweeney, SC, Gerald Tullier, John Valluzzo and Richard Vath.
