Mothers’ Club Auction Celebrates 30 Years

The 30th annual CHS Mothersí´ Club Auction, held on Saturday, March 20th at the Louisiana State Museum was a huge success!  Over 400 guests enjoyed a night of music, laughter, great food, cocktails and conversation at this exciting new venue.

Even the occasional rain didní´t seem to put a damper on the evening as the crowd enjoyed the live music of the V-Tones on the covered, candle lit plaza in the shadow of the State Capital.  Inside, the mood was festive as guests bid on the abundance of silent auction items, sampled delicious food, satisfied their íÍsweet toothíñ with cakes and pastries, and indulged in one of the many items provided for dipping in the luscious chocolate fountain. Catering for food and desserts was provided by Heirloom Cuisine, Mrs. Melanie McRoberts, and Chocolate Fountains and More.

Throughout the night, the sound of cheering and laughter could be heard from the wine-toss corner where some lucky challenger had íÍrungíñ a bottle of wine.  This year, the wine toss was sponsored by Maxwellí´s Market.

Many of the attendees took advantage of the opportunity to visit the exhibits in the museum throughout the evening.

Before the Live Auction began, CHS Mothersí´ Club President, Gwen Cotton introduced Mrs. Kathy Bishop, the very first auction chairman.  She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by CHS President, Mr. Gene Tullier, Mrs. Bishop commented that the auction has come a long way, reminiscing that the first auction had been held from the back of a pickup truck.

Master of Ceremonies, Pat Shingleton of WBRZ TV entertained the crowd and assisted auctioneer Brian Fourroux during the live auction.  The hit of the evening was the NFL Championship Football signed by the starting Offensive Line and Defensive Line of the World Champion New Orleans Saints.

At the conclusion of the Live Auction participants lifted their glasses with a champagne toast to the Mothersí´ Club.  The lucky winner of the beautiful diamond hoop earrings, donated by Boudreauxí´s Fine Jewelers was Carol Bonnecaze. The champagne raffle was sponsored by Black Castle Vineyards.

To end this fabulous evening, the 2010 Honda Accord, provided by Richardí´s Honda, was awarded to the Gosserand family.

Special thanks to this yearí´s Auction Chairman, Kathy Honor_, and her assistant, Beverly Shaw, for overseeing this spectacular event!
