Orange Wave Finishes Fifth in the SJA Invitational
The Big Orange Wave cross country team participated in the St. Joseph’s Academy Invitational at Highland Road Park on Saturday, October 3. The Bears finished fifth in a field of 46 teams with a point total of 164 points.
Senior Jeffrey Kelley finished fourth overall with a blistering time of 15:02 to pace the Wave over a very fast course. Caleb Dugas (16:06), Miles McLindon (16:15), Thomas Laville (16:15) and Collin Sarrazin (16:46) rounded out the top five for the Bears. Michael Hubbell (16:50) and John Donner (17:05) completed the eligible scorers for the Wave on a cool and dry day that produced many personal records.
The junior high team was led by Brian MIller, who finished ninth overall, with a clocking of 11:23. The junior high Bears placed fourth in a large field. Jack Maddox (11:49), Andy Mertz (11:53), Jack Lieux (12:02) and Britt McLindon (12:04) rounded out the top five.
The Bears next race is Saturday, October 10 at Highland Road Park for the Catholic High Invitational. The CHS hosted meet annually sports one of the largest and most competitive fields of the cross country season in the state of Louisiana in all classifications. The first race is scheduled for a 8:30 a.m. start.
