Orange Wave To Open Season with Bayou Boogie Invitational
Coach Pete Boudreaux’s Orange Wave will open its season on Saturday, September 5, at Highland Road Park in the Bayou Boogie Invitational. The Bayou Boogie annually kicks off the local cross country season and preparations continue as the Bears train up to the opener.
David Toups put in two impressive training performances last week readying for the Bayou Boogie. The senior blistered three miles under the Kleinert Avenue oaks in 15:31, second best all-time for the distance under legendary Pete Boudreaux. Toups followed up that run by winning the scrimmage meet at Highland Road Park in a time of 16:16. Michael Hubbell finished second in 16:36 and was followed by John Donner (16:41), Caleb Dugas (16:46) and Thomas Laville (16:50).
The top two finishers in the junior high scrimmage meet were James Lalonde with a time of 11:05 and Jack Maddox in 11:58.
Samuel Harkrider recently posted an 8th grade best time of 6:21 in a one mile trial on Kleinert Avenue.
The starter’s pistol fires early at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning at Highland Road Park for the first race. Click here to see the full Cross Country schedule.
