Philip Primeaux Selected Gatorade State Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year

Catholic High School junior, Philip Primeaux, has been selected as the 2008-2009 Gatorade Louisiana Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Recipients of this award are selected not only for their outstanding athletic performance, but also for meeting high academic-achievement standards while demonstrating exemplary personal character on and off the course.

Primeaux won the Class 5A state meet with a time of 15:25, leading the Bears to the state team championship. In addition to winning the Catholic Invitational and the Baton Rouge Metro Cross Country Championship, he was an all-state cross country selection and the Baton Rouge All-Metro Runner of the Year.

Primeaux also maintains a 3.74 GPA and is a member of the CHS Chorus and National Honor Society. In addition to his school activities, he volunteers at a local homeless shelter and traveled to Virginia as part of a humanitarian trip through his church.
