Second Half Rally Lifts CHS Hoopsters

The basketball team scored a 48-40 victory over Plaquemine on Friday, Dec. 11, in the CHS gym.  The visiting Green Devils held a 25-15 lead going into intermission.  In the second half, the Bears stormed back out scoring the Green Devils 18-7 in the third quarter, and then held Plaquemine at bay in the final quarter.

The Bears were led by Toliver Freeman’s 18 points. Jacoby Carter chipped in 12 points to go with Ethan Treigle’s eight points.  CHS hit eight shots from behind the three point line which aided the Bears’ 33-15 run in the second half.

At halftime, the state champion members of the swimming and football teams were recognized for their efforts during their 2015 seasons.

The basketball team is now 9-1 after the win over Plaquemine, a 4A quarterfinalist last season.  The Bears will take a break from action on the court as semester exams line the docket this week.  The team will return to the court in the Country Day Tournament in the New Orleans area on Dec. 19 – 22.
