Senior Josh Shepherd Selected To Be LSU Cheerleader
CHS Senior and Cheerleading Co-Captain Josh Shepherd has been selected to be an LSU Cheerleader for the 2014-2015 school year.
Shepherd wowed the judges through the three-day cheerleading tryouts at LSU. Through the tryout process, he was able to show off his chanting, tumbling and stunting skills while making it through all three rounds of cuts and an interview. He is excited to be able to continue cheering, especially at LSU.
íÍIt is going to be really cool to cheer with peers at the collegiate level while making new friends and learning new skills,íñ said Shepherd. íÍI cannot wait to go to games and cheer on the Tigers locally so I can stay in touch with everyone in Baton Rouge. Cheering at CHS has given me great experience in cheering at football games and other athletic events, and I am excited to cheer in front of a collegiate crowd.íñ
Shepherd has been a member of the CHS Cheerleading Team since his junior year, and CHS Cheerleader Moderator Jennifer Thibodeaux credits the newly co-ed cheerleading squad to Shepherd and his talents.
íÍJosh is absolutely the reason why CHS now has a co-ed squad after years of it being just girls. His skills, leadership as a co-captain and knowledge have been invaluable to the team, and his tumbling ability is electrifying,íñ commented Thibodeaux. íÍHe will be an incredible asset to LSU, and they are lucky to have him. I cannot wait to watch him cheer on the Tigers while being a great example of what CHS alumni can do. Josh will represent both LSU and CHS well.íñ
Shepherd has been tumbling since seventh grade and has been cheering for various competitive squads since eighth grade. He currently cheers for Louisiana Cheer Force on the Gold Team, which is a co-ed squad that competes on the regional, national and international levels. He will be traveling with the team to Walt Disney World at the end of April, when they will compete in the worlds competition.
He will begin practicing and training with the LSU squad this summer.
