Senior Jude Franklin Elected President at the 2016 Louisiana Youth Seminar
Senior Jude Franklin was elected president of the Tory Party at the 2016 Louisiana Youth Seminar (LYS). Franklin attended LYS July 17-22 at Louisiana State University.
The 2016 LYS caucus came to a close on the last full day of LYS after campaigning, strategizing and voting. During LYS, students go through a series of skill building exercises focused on leadership. Through a series of hands on experiences, they use their newly developed skills in a group setting to discover that leadership is not merely a matter of position or authority, but a matter of action.
For the first time in LYS history, LouisianaÕs sitting governor made an appearance to address the delegates. Governor John Bel Edwards reflected on our great state of Louisiana and led the ÒDream StateÓ presentation. Guest speakers also included Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne, former lieutenant governor; Jeremy Alford, LYS delegate alum and publisher and editor of LaPolitics.com and LaPolitics Weekly; and LYS Program Director Donald Cravins Jr., former state senator and representative, staff director and chief counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
