Six Students and Recent Grads Attend National YMCA Youth and Government Conference

Six CHS students and recent graduates were among 21 students from across south Louisiana representing the state at the YMCA Conference on National Affairs last month.  Students attending are selected due to their outstanding performance at the two state conferences, Youth Legislature and Model United Nations.

Attending from Catholic High were Evan Ashy í´12, Aaron Brown í´12, Cameron Bueche í´11, Conner Bueche í´12, Taylor Dizor í´12 and Joe Gipson í´10.

Joe Gipson was named one of six Presiding Officers for the 2011 Conference.  He was also selected as Outstanding Statesmen by the conference leadership as a delegate, who not only debates well, but also exhibits poise and tact.

In addition, Gipsoní´s proposal to mandate the production of a íÍlaymaní´s terms documentíñ to accompany all federal legislation was one of two proposals from Louisiana to progress to the final round of debate.    His proposal won passage of the entire conference during the Plenary session, where the eight best proposals of the conference are debated.
