Soccer Bears Improve to 9-1 in District With Win Over Baton Rouge High

The CHS soccer team put itself in the driver’s seat in District 5 last night with a big 1-0 victory over Baton Rouge High School.  The Bears controlled the pace for most of the match and created a few good chances, but could not convert early on.  Baton Rouge High had several individuals who were dangerous on counters, but the Bears defense anchored by Goalkeeper Ryan Frick never let the Bulldogs get a good look at goal.  Catholic scored off of a corner driven in by Jack Hymel, and deflected in goal by Andrew Blanchard with several other Bears ready to pounce.  Catholic locked up shop by sitting back more defensive and keeping the game in front of them to close out the last ten minutes of the match.  The Bears improved to 9-1 in District play, and can seal the District championship with a win Saturday at Live Oak.
