Soccer Team Defeats Lafayette High and Denham Springs

On a very cold January night, the CHS soccer team travelled to Lafayette to play the #5 ranked Lafayette High School Lions. The Bears struck early in the 1st half when Thomas Boyer played a first time penetrating pass to Jack Hymel who got behind the Lions defense and neatly tucked the ball in the back of the net. Hymel scored again about 10 minutes later on a fantastic turn and srike from 25 yards out. The Bears went into the half up 2-0. The second half Catholic took a more defensive posture, and looked to breakout on counters. The Bears had great effort and execution from every player on the roster. Lafayette did make the game interesting after a questionable PK call and score, and after Catholic missed a PK of its own, but CHS prevailed 2-1 and got its first big win of the season.

The Soccer Bears were in play again on Monday, January 11, and defeated Denham Springs with a score of 4-1.
