Soccer Team Defeats St. Thomas More

The Catholic soccer team travelled to Lafayette to play at St. Thomas More on Saturday, December 11.  The match had the quality and intensity of a playoff match.  Both teams traded possession, and a few chances in the 1st half mainly off of set pieces and throw ins.  The halftime score was 0-0.  The Bears went down in the 48th minute after the Cougars scored on a scramble in front of the CHS goal.  The Bears turned up the pressure after the goal and locked the Cougars into their own defensive half.  Catholic finally broke the stingy defense in the 72nd minute to draw the score even off of a goal from Patrick Betts.  Then in the last two minutes of regulation, Austin Anderman hit a left footed strike to put the Bears up 2-1.  The victory was a total team effort.   The Catholic soccer team improved to 7-3 overall and are currently ranked #5 in the LHSAA Coaches Poll.
