Soccer Team One Step Closer to State Title

Your Catholic High Varsity Soccer team took one step closer to the state title on Tuesday night with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over the resilient Northshore Panthers. The game was played very tight, with the Bears dominating the run of play in regulation, but unable to capitalize with a goal. Starting two minutes into overtime, Sean Cotton broke free in the box and fired a low shot to the far post giving the Bears the lead. However, later in overtime, the Panthers responded with a goal of their own. This set the stage for Robert Brown’s magnificent header from a Thomas Boyer free kick in the expiring seconds of overtime to seal the victory for the Bears and advance them to the state quarterfinals.

The quarterfinal game will be held at the Burbank Soccer Complex either Monday or Tuesday of next week. Details will be posted when they are available.
