Soccer Team Opens District Play With Win Over BR High

The CHS soccer team opened District 3 play last week with a 2-1 victory over Baton Rouge High. The win over their “across the street” rivals raised the Bears’ record to 4-6-4. The win puts the Bears at #14 in the Division I power ratings with the top 24 teams making the LHSAA playoffs. The new power ratings will come out tomorrow.

Leading the Bears offensively this season are: Cole Casenave (4 goals, 3 assists); Eli Weathers (3 goals, 2 assists); Max Trapp (3 goals); Patrick Dunn, Preston Stafford, Patrick Mensah, and Garret Tate have each scored a goal. Danny Occupati chipped an assist.

On the defensive side of things, junior keeper Patrick Riley has 4 shutouts and 62 saves this season.

The Bears will travel to Walker High on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in an important District 3 soccer match with a kickoff time of 6 p.m. Walker enters the match with a 13-4-3 record. The Wildcats are one of the top squads in the Baton Rouge metro area.
