Soccer Team Picks Up Additional Wins During Holidays
The CHS Soccer Team competed in the St. Paul’s Tournament December 28-30. The team opened the tournament with its most complete game of the season with a 2-0 win over Mandeville High School, number 10 in Division I, with goals from Alex Bujenovic and Jovhan Gilbert. In its next game, CHS battled Newman High, the number 1 team in Division III. Catholic came out victorious with a 1-0 win off of a goal by Jack Hymel. This set up a matchup between Catholic and Lafayette High, number 3 in Division I, to see who would advance to the semifinals of the tournament. After a very competitive game with both teams having good chances, Lafayette High scored in the 56th minute on a well struck set piece to win the game 1-0, and advance on in the tournament.
The soccer team, also, played its first game of the new year on January 2, 2010 with an 8-0 District win over Central with 3 Goals from Jack Hymel, 2 Goals for Jeremy Dismukes, and a goal by Christopher Focht, Alan Gudiel, and Adam Pfefferle.
