Soccer Team Receives 12th Seed in Playoffs
The Catholic soccer team received the 12th seed in the LHSAA Division I playoffs. The Bears will face Pineville of the Alexandria area at home on Friday night at 6 p.m.
The Bears enter the first round of the playoffs with a 12-7-2 record and sports a 10-6 record against fellow Division I competitors. Pineville, from District 1 of Division I, is 12-11-1. The Rebels competed in a district that include traditional soccer powers Byrd and Caddo Magnet along with West Monroe. Pineville went 3-3 in district and was 4-6 against Division I opponents.
First year head coach Josh McReynolds gave insight on his club’s first round match. “Pineville is a bit of a mystery for us because we have not seen them this year and they play in the northern part of the state. We have to play solid defense as we did in our last match against U-High, but must convert on our attacking opportunities. We have stressed to the team the importance of focusing on Pineville and not looking ahead to St. Amant, who we are very familiar with. I am hoping for a big home crowd on Friday night as we make a run for a Division I state title,” said McReynolds.
With a win, the Bears will travel to the #5 seed and district foe, St. Amant. Click here to see the Division I soccer bracket.
