Spanish Club Receives Awards at State Convention

The weekend of March 9th, the Catholic High Spanish Club attended the Louisiana High School Spanish Convention. Twenty-three members participated in the event. Throughout the Convention, students enjoyed a talent show, Quiz bowl, and a dance. Prior to the dance, members learned how to perform the popular Latin American Salsa dance. Additionally, seminars covering Zumba dancing, tortilla cooking, craft weaving, and abroad program information were available.

Other than having fun and bonding with different high schools, the Spanish Club participated in level test, creative writing, linguistic, and video competitions. Michael Edmonson won 1st place in Spanish IV oral communication competition. Tyler Daigrepont won 1st place in Spanish IV level test. Billy Thigpen won 3rd place in the creative writing competition and combined with Seth Scioneaux to lead the club to a 3rd place victory in the video competition. Stephen Hurdle placed 2nd for the Spanish III level test and the Spanish III oral communications competition. Jonathan Nunez won 3rd place in the Spanish I level test. David Wroten won 4th place in the Spanish II level test.

Joesph Angelloz was elected as a State Delegate.
