Students and Alumni Participate in Service Trip to Labadieville
More than 40 CHS students and 10 alumni traveled down the bayou to St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville for five days of service and prayer from Wednesday, June 19 to Sunday, June 23.
The group began Thursday morning with team building activities and then made a visit to the nursing home. On Friday and Saturday, the team worked hard in the community. They did some cemetery maintenance, painted and repaired houses, worked on landscaping and visited and prayed with the homebound and elderly of Labadieville. Saturday night ended with a mass with the community at St. Philomena.
The group ended their trip with a field day on Sunday to celebrate their completion of the mission experience and a dinner for participants and families. On Sunday evening, the team was celebrated through a commissioning service.
