Cassel and Simon qualified in the Lincoln Douglas Debate and Kevin Ward was the district winner in dramatic performance and so will be a top seed at nationals.
íÍQualifying for the national tournament was unbelievable. I didní´t know anything about speech and debate, and now I am going to compete at the national level. It is an honor to be going,íñ commented Cassel.
Catholic High Faculty Members Travis Kern and Christy Kessler are co-moderators of the Speech and Debate Club.
Students participated in eight tournaments around the state. In these competitions, Catholic High had five students qualify for the State Tournament of Champions: Johnny Ballance and Daniel Kleinpeter as a team in Duet Acting; Taylor Simon and Simon Cassel in Debate; and Kevin Ward in Humorous Interpretation.
