Students Recognized at Eagle Scout Banquet

Several CHS students were recognized at the Annual Eagle Scout Banquet on Sunday, March 16 at the Catholic Life Center.

All boy scouts who earned the rank of Eagle during the 2013 calendar year were recognized for their achievement.

In addition, Ryan Gueriní´s service project was recognized as Project of the Year for the Istrouma Area Council out of 119 projects.

Gueriní´s Eagle Service Project was to build bat houses to reduce the mosquito population in Iberville Parish. In addition to reducing Mosquito Population, his project helps reduce the spread of the West Nile virus and reduce pesticide usage throughout the parish.

In preparation, Guerin researched the brown batí´s habitat that lives in our area. He built 20 houses using materials that would attract bats, and was awarded a grant from Loweí´s to complete his project.

His project will now move to the Southern District level.
