Summer Athletic Update

The Catholic High baseball team, fresh off of a state runner-up performance in Class 5A, is currently participating in the 18 and Under National Championship in the Atlanta, Georgia area.  The “McDonald’s Bears” will play seven games in pool play with the winner advancing to an elimination round.  The Bears are currently 2-0 entering Sunday’s games. 

Rising senior Josh Smith recently participated in a national development program associated with USA Baseball. Smith, a LSU baseball commitment, is competing for an opportunity for a spot on the Team USA baseball roster. 

The Basketball Bears, under the direction of Mark Cascio, recently completed its summer league with a 17-5 record.  The Bears also competed recently in the Birmingham Southern summer team camp.  The varsity finished with a 5-1 record while the junior varsity finished with a 4-1 record against prep programs across the South. 

The Catholic High football program recently competed in the Gulf Coast Community College 7 on 7 tournament.  The Bears went undefeated in pool play and advanced to the championship game in the elimination bracket, where they finished as tournament runner-ups.
