Swim Team Captures First Win of Season

The CHS swim team started the season off 1-0 on Saturday morning at Ketcham Fitness Center. The Bears finished with a score of 447.

Teams finishing behind the Bears were:
2.       Zachary 120
3.       Uhigh 91
4.       Central 85
5.       Baton Rouge 84
6.       Brusly 77
7.       St. Michaels 74
8.       Dutchtown 54
9.       Scotlandville 27

In addition to their first win of the season, the Bears accumulated:
-19 new state cuts for this year including a state cut in every event
-39 best times 
-5 freshman swims qualify for state meet
    Lance Michael Rodriguez 200 free/100 free
    Braden Nyboer 200 IM
    Nick Romero 200 IM/100 Free
-1 freshman, Braden Nyboer win an event(200 IM)
-1 Sophomore Colin Bone won the 200 Free and 50 free
-1 Junior Brady Grenfell won the 100 fly and the 100 back
 -won every single event
– 1st-3rd in every event except the 100 back.

“It was a great start to the year. Great to see most of our points scored by freshmen and sophomores. Juniors and seniors still held their own with four event wins and several state cuts. Next week we face Parkview, East Ascension, and Dunham, so we get some new competition. Also next week we will get our first shot at relays and the 500 free. Plenty to work on to get faster,” stated Head Coach Doug Logsdon.
