Swim Team Makes CHS History at City Championships

The Catholic High Swim Team won its 26th straight Baton Rouge Capital City Swim League Championship on Sunday, November 1 at Crawfish Aquatics. The Bearsí´ final score was 631, which was 451 points ahead of second place team Lutcher High School. It was also the most points ever scored by a CHS swim team at a City Championship meet. The team won 10 out of 11 events contested in the meet including all three relays. Colin Bone was named swimmer of the meet for winning two individual events (50 and 100 free) and setting city meet records in both. In the 50 free, his time of 21.04 beat a 2005 record and his time of 45.69 beat his own record in the 100 free set last season. Bone also was part of two winning relays the 200 and 400 free relays. Bone was named the meetí´s Outstanding Performer for the fourth consecutive year.

Braden Nyboer was the other double winner for the Bears winning the 200 IM and 500 freestyle events. Nyboer was also part of two winning relays the 200 and 400 free relays. Other event winners for the Bears include: Lance Michael Rodriguez, 200 free; Sion Cavana, 100 back; and Jonathan Mckeough, 100 breast. The team got 31/32 best season times in finals on Sunday.

The team will next be in action on Friday, November 20 in Sulphur, Louisiana, for prelims of the Division 1 LHSAA State Championships seeking their third consecutive state championship.
