Tennis Team Goes 2-2 In National Tournament

The Catholic High School Tennis Team competed in the Deco-Turf High School National Championships this past weekend. The Bears took 10th place after going 2-2 in the tournament’s top classification that included schools from across the country. After losing a close match to The Baylor School of Chattanooga 2-5, the bears regrouped and defeated Jesuit of New Orleans 5-1.

Day two of competition began with a victory over Montgomery Bell Academy of Nashville 4-3 before losing a tough match to Tennessee High School of Bristol 2-5. The team only dropped three doubles matches throughout the entire tournament, and was lead by senior and team captain Andrew Bienvenu and junior Nick Watson.

The Bears will conclude the metro season with matches against Dutchtown, Espiscopal and Baton Rouge Magnet before hosting the regional tournament at Highland Road Park, April 18-19. Qualifiers from the regional tournament will travel to the state tournament, April 27-28, the following week in Monroe, La.
