Tennis Team Successful Throughout Week
The Catholic High School Tennis Teams have had a successful week participating in the annual McGill-Toolen Invitational and defeating both East Ascension and Dutchtown.
The tournament, which was held on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16 in Mobile, Ala., had “A” and “B” draws, with 32 teams from 11 different schools around the gulf coast area, including Brother Martin and St. Michael from La. The varsity tennis team competed in the íÍAíñ draw, and the two JV teams competed in the íÍBíñ draw.
The varsity team lost in the semifinals to Montgomery Academy and defeated Spain Park 8-1 to claim third place overall in the invitational. The JV teams went undefeated in the “B” Draw and met in the finals, placing 1st and 2nd in their draw.
The CHS tennis team defeated East Ascension 5-0 on Wednesday, March 20. The Bears were led by singles victories from Peyton Stuart and Conner Kurzweg and doubles victories by Michael Paul Bienvenu with Matt Greene, Chris Spedale with Pierce Hill and Stephen Colomb with Brendan Aguillard.
Then, the Bears defeated Dutchtown 4-1 on Thursday, March 21. The Bears were led by singles victories from Carter Lundin and Alex Klement and doubles victories from James Isacks with Foster Brackin and Parker Hunt with Paul Lewis.
The tennis team will take on U-High on Tuesday, April 2 at Lamar YMCA. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
