The Bears Win Over St. Amant Last Friday Night at Memorial Stadium

“Early and often” would be the catch phrase in Catholic High’s win over St. Amant last Friday night at Memorial Stadium.  The Bears scored 24 points in the first quarter and mounted a 38-0 halftime lead in the 51-21 rout of the Gators.  A stifling first unit defense (fumble recovery by Elijah Reames and interception by Patrick Delatte), two electrifying Braelen Morgan punt returns for scores, and a high-powered, well-balanced offense were behind the unrelenting start by the Bears.

Josh Parker led the Bears on the ground with 76 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns and Cameron Dartez threw for two scores.  Cole Cazenave kicked a 33 yard field goal in the firs quarter scoring barrage.

The Bears moved to 5-1 with the district opening win, while the Gators dropped to 4-2.

Catholic is the #4 ranked team in the most recent LSWA Class 5A poll and will host McKinley on Friday night at Olympia Stadium.  Kickoff at Olympia is set for 7pm.
